Meet our Ophthalmologist
Dr. Michael Rolfsen
Michael Rolfsen is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He specializes in cataract surgery and refractive cataract surgery, as well as comprehensive ophthalmology including glaucoma and routine eye exams.

Dr. Rolfsen grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He attended the University of Notre Dame, where he obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance with an emphasis on mathematics and graduated Summa Cum Laude. He went on to medical school at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Dr. Rolfsen served his medical internship at Tulane University in New Orleans before completing a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

After finishing his residency in ophthalmology, Dr. Rolfsen and his wife and children moved to Waco to be near family. In July of 2020, after three years at a group practice in town, he had the opportunity to open a solo ophthalmology practice-- Waco Ophthalmology. Just two years later, Dr. Rolfsen was voted "Best Ophthalmologist" by the Wacoan Magazine's Best of Waco. He has now been honored by this award for three years running-- 2022, 2023, and 2024. Dr. Rolfsen is passionate about caring for his patients’ eyes, and is excited to continue to provide top-of-the-line eye care at Waco Ophthalmology.
In his free time, Dr. Rolfsen enjoys spending time with his wife, Maria, and their five children, Jourdan, Lucy Jane, John Michael, Rosie, and Luke. He is also involved at St. Louis Catholic Church. Any additional time usually goes towards reading, exercise, golf, tennis, and watching Notre Dame football.
